Jessica is an ARC DECRA Fellow and leads a multidisciplinary lab within the School of Molecular Sciences at the University of Western Australia (UWA), with a particular focus on DNA and RNA nanotechnology. Her main research interests involve understanding cellular interactions with nanomaterials, applying the knowledge gained to better engineer biosensors and targeted drug and gene delivery systems.

Jessica completed her PhD degree in chemistry from UWA, spending part of her doctoral studies as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (2018). Her PhD focused on the design and evaluation of new polymeric materials for the delivery of gene therapies. From there, Jessica was an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow at the Technical University of Munich where she worked on the design and implementation of DNA origami for biotechnological applications (2020 – 2022), before returning to UWA as a Forrest Fellow to establish her own group.
